Our Technology: Point-to-Point Distance Measuring

In mid-2002, the founder of Munro Ranging invented a new method for non-contact distance measurement using laser (i.e., laser rangefinding) or microwave (i.e., radar) emissions.  This new disruptive technology has several distinct and important characteristics, including:

· Low cost, uses readily available low-bandwidth electronics

· High accuracy, theoretically on the order of 0.001”, unaffected by target velocity

· Quick

· Compact

· Inches to Mile Measuring, depending on emission power and type of carrier

· Microwave, ultrasonic, or optical (eye safe visible laser) carriers

· Digital data, received and transmitted during measurement

An extraordinarily simple proof-of-concept model has been constructed to demonstrate this technology, and it has been able to measure distances in excess of 120 feet, with better than 1mm (1/25th inch) accuracy.  View Prototype

Applications for the Point to Point Technology include

Ø Automotive (adaptive cruise control, Inter-vehicle communications),

Ø Radar and Rangefinding

Ø Industrial Automation and Robotics

Ø Vehicular Law Enforcement and Velocimetry

Ø Skilled trades and DIY Hand tools

Ø Docking

Ø Cryptology

Ø Sports (Golf, Archery, Hunting)

Ø Autofocus for Cameras and Camcorders
